The impacts of the Hungarian Revolution of 1956 on the democratic transition in 1989
September 2016 - December 2016

The International Centre for Democratic Transition is organizing an international conference in the framework of the 60th anniversary of the Hungarian Revolution of 1956. The event will be held on October 17, 2016 at the Kodaly-room of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences.

It is a basic tenet of the Hungarian public thinking that the political transition of the country in 1989 was built on the historical, political, sociological heritage of the Revolution of 1956.

Therefore, we will analyze – with well-known experts - the effects of the revolution to the political transition of the country. By this approach, the conference will be one of the most unique programs in the framework of the anniversary program series.

The conference is supported by the Hungarian 1956 Memorial Committee. Final conference program, agenda  and registration information will be published on the website.
