Program of ICDT at the Sziget Festival 2012 Succesfully Closed

Along with the Corvinus Society for Foreign Affairs and Culture (CKKE) and the Tom Lantos Institute (TLI), ICDT attended the Sziget Festival for the third time between 8-12 August 2012. This year’s program aimed to present the changes of the modern world's diplomacy and focused on the countries of the Western Balkans and the Eastern Partnership.

Besides interesting and informative quiz and boardgames, the organizers invited diplomats and experts of various fields every day. Dr. András Rácz of the Hungarian Institute of International Affairs presented the so-called coloured revolutions of Eastern Europe, while H.E. Ms. Shkëndije Sherifi, Ambassador of Kosovo introduced her country’s developments in economic, infrastructural and bilateral political issues. Dr. Tamás Molnár, adjunct professor of the Corvinus University of Budapest talked about the cooperation in internal and legal affairs between the EU and the countries of the Eastern Partnership. Ms. Theresa Bernice Bubbear, Deputy Head of Mission of the Embassy of the United Kingdom elaborated her country’s position on human rights within the UK’s Europe policy. A discussion with Mr. Sándor Köles, Senior Advisor of the ICDT closed the institutions programs on Sunday where the expert talked about the opportunities for interregional and cross-border cooperation among the Eastern Partnership countries and highlighted the concept of an Eastern Partnership Trust Fund as a possible form of this collaboration.

The discussions were followed by drink tasting and a competition where visitors could try and recognize different drinks from the countries of the Western Balkans and the Eastern Partnership.
