„Carry on, because this is the future” - Amb. André Erdős, Senior Advisor of ICDT highlighted in this way the importance of the Dniester/Nistru Euroregion.
ICDT representatives participated at a conference and roundtable discussion in Vinnytsia /Ukraine/, entitled „The Euroregion as a Positive Instrument for Cross-border Cooperation Policy”.
Mr. Sergii Tatusiak, Chairman of the Vinnytsia Regional Council and Head of the Dniester/Nistru Euroregion Council opened the conference with a welcome speech. Among other well-known international experts, diplomats, local and civil society representatives, Mr. Sándor Köles, Senior Advisor of ICDT also held a lecture on the importance of cross-border cooperation and pointed out the relevance of the V4 experience.
Mr. Vitaly Pirozhkov, Ukrainian Ambassador to Moldova, acknowledged Hungary’s, and especially ICDT’s contribution to not only to the creation of the Dniester/Nistru Euroregion, but to the development of its activities, strategies and staff capacities. ICDT published in 2010 a feasibility study on the creation of the Dniester/Nistru Euroregion and, with the support of the International Visegrad Fund and in cooperation with the Institute for Stability and Development (ISD), since August 2012 it has been implementing a project aimed at providing support for the Coordination Centre of the Euroregion in the field of capacity building and advocacy activities.

As a continuation of the second workshop held in November 2012 in Tiraspol, ICDT and ISD organized a third on-site workshop in Vinnytsia on March 1, 2013, the day after the conference and roundtable discussion of the Euroregion.
After Amb. Erdős spoke of Central and Eastern Europe as a region known for its turbulent history and he underlined the paramount importance of such cross-border cooperations for the stabilization of the region, Dr. Petr Vágner, Senior Advisor of ISD analyzed the current political situation in the region, focusing especially on Ukraine and Moldova.
Ms. Eva Rybkova and Mr. Köles followed-up the work started at the second workshop which is aimed at drafting the Dniester/Nistru Euroregion’s Mission Statement, its strategy and operational method documents.
In the framework of the third workshop, the Coordination Centre of the Euroregion held a discussion about the aforementioned goals in the framework of a working group and presented its conclusions. The Mission Statement and its operational method document is planned to be completed by July 2013.
